Donna Rhodes

Donna H. Rhodes is a Senior Lecturer and Principal Research Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is the director of MIT’s Systems Engineering Advancement Research Initiative (SEAri), a research group focused on advancing theories, methods, and practice of systems engineering applied to complex sociotechnical systems. She conducts research on innovative approaches and methods for architecting complex systems and enterprises, designing for uncertain futures, and evolving anticipatory capacity in enterprises. This research has led to frameworks, methods and predictive indicators which have been transferred to pilot projects and full use in a number of organizations. Her research crosses multiple sectors including defense, aerospace, transportation, energy, and commercial products. Previously, Dr. Rhodes held senior management positions in systems engineering and enterprise practices at IBM Federal Systems, Lockheed Martin, and Lucent Technologies. She has been very involved in the evolution of the systems engineering discipline, and in development of several university programs. Dr. Rhodes is a Past President and Fellow of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), and an INCOSE Founders Award recipient. She received her Ph.D. in Systems Science from T.J. Watson School of Engineering at Binghamton University.
