Kok Jeroen

Jeroen Kok

Jeroen Kok is an international expert on e-ticketing implementation and development, working at board level globally. Previously, Jeroen was the CEO of E-TSN, a Dutch Railways company to develop and implement new business opportunities on the basis of the national OV-chipcard scheme. Before that, he was CEO of Trans Link Systems (TLS) in the Netherlands from 2001 until 2010. TLS has established a major innovation in public transport in The Netherlands: it acquired and manages the first nationwide e-payment system for all public transport operators in Europe, processing at least 1.5 billion transactions per year. In 2001, Jeroen was asked to form and manage this company by the five biggest Public Transport Operators in The Netherlands (responsible for 85% of the country’s public transport), which now act as shareholders of TLS. TLS is a private company with an independent supervisory board managing both the ‘private’ interests of the Transport Operators as well as the ‘public’ interest of national and regional public authorities.

Jeroen is an economist and has worked both in the private and public sector. After some years at the Department of Economic Affairs he was asked by the Department of Transport to work on the High Speed Rail link between Amsterdam and Paris where he became responsible for the procurement model and the tendering of the operations contract. Before starting up Trans Link Systems, Jeroen was director of the Department of Transport managing a nationwide mobility program, including road pricing and stimulating public-private partnerships.
